Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our fifth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, once again presented by Verity Credit Union.

Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured band is Sweet Water.

Sweet Water is the Seattle band whose music combines elements of punk, pop, grunge and new wave to deliver on the promises of rock and roll.  Singer Adam Czeisler, guitarist Rich Credo, bassist Cole Peterson and drummer Chris Friel write songs, cut records, make videos and play shows to bring the rock to the people. Albums include Sweet Water, Superfriends, Suicide, Ter, Clear The Tarmac, Dance Floor Kills and Parc Boys.

Today’s featured band really should need no introduction, especially if you’ve been a fan of northwest music for any length of time. Who in the northwest hasn’t rocked out to “Head Down,” “Super Star” or “Everything Will Be Alright?” Even though the band did take a break from 2000-2006,  they followed up the hits in the 90s with plenty of other great stuff like 2009’s Clear the Tarmac among other releases. But even if you haven’t heard from them for a while, now is a great time to get back on board because they have some kick ass new music out and Sweet Water is ready to rock!  You can check out video for the rocking new single “Galer Street” below from the recently released new album Firebird and pick up a copy at the album release event this Saturday at Neumos. More details about that event are available below as well but if you can’t make the show, the new album is available for purchase online HERE.
